Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)

EAL is a unique way of looking at yourself through a horse's eyes. These gentle giants give us space in their world for self-learning. As prey animals, they're constantly processing external stimuli to survive. Our horses are domesticated and are in no immediate danger, but their bodies are always scanning the environment. They are always on guard. This is partly what makes them so calming to our central nervous system. They read us the minute we walk towards them and give us instant feedback about our emotions. Horses are a mirror into our soul, and really, who can ignore a 1200 lb animal.

You don't need horse experience! There is no riding involved. Clients range from those seeking personal coaching, life skill development and coping strategies to those looking to work on relationships as parents, spouses or other family dynamics. Teenagers facing school and societal stressors respond positively to EAL too. Working through exercises amongst a herd of horses fosters emotional regulation and non-verbal communication. It becomes easier to process emotions and patterns when they are identified by the horses.

Corporations find EAL an exciting addition to retreats and team building. Playing games using horses as teammates puts employees and management on an even playing field. Everyone becomes part of the herd working towards a common goal.
