Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP)

EAP is an innovative psychotherapy that uses a herd of horses to facilitate better mental health. A licenced psychologist accompanies the EAL facilitator and together with the horses, the client is asked to perform an exercise with the herd. This is effective with clients as its experiential learning and solution oriented. Clients are given space to explore alternative ways to approach and/or perceive their problems. Being able to draw metaphors between how the horses are interacting with the client and the client's own life helps identify emotional patterns. Horses make good co-facilitators because of their distinct personalities, heirarchy within the herd and their non-judgemental nature.

Horses save lives. They give our young people confidence and self-esteem. They provide peace and tranquility to troubled souls. They give us hope!
